Hello,
We thought you might like an update of Jack.
He has filled out nicely, not fat, but got rid of the ribby look. Also he is changing colour and is becoming very brindle. We are not sure if it is the sun or his age or what but he is still very very glossy and very active.
We have lots of walks and he is with us almost 24/7. He is absolutely wonderful and has taken over as we would have expected. He comes on the bed in morning when we have our morning cuppa in bed. He sits on our laps in the evening, unless it is too hot and loves to lie in the sun, to the extent we almost have roast dog some days.
He is a gem and we are so pleased we have him.
Best of luck with your others
Debbie and Colin

Three years ago, when he was just three years old, my lilac-point Siamese, Rupert, suffered a serious tail injury which, despite the best efforts of the vet, resulted in him becoming doubly incontinent. Fortunately, he was relatively untroubled by this and adapted well, and though I managed to keep on top of all the consequences of dealing with his condition, a few months ago I developed a health condition which meant that the hygiene issues – in particular the risk of infection - were becoming impossible to ignore or to manage and I reluctantly decided to try and get Rupert re-homed. As you can imagine, Rupert’s incontinence effectively ruled out re-homing in a family and, for one reason or another, the cat rescue organizations I investigated were not really suitable. I was at my wit’s end when I came across the Poss Puss Rescue website and I very much liked what I saw. I got in touch with Jan and we explored at length the possibility of Rupert becoming a permanent resident. What most impressed me was her attention to detail and her evident dedication and I was more than happy to sponsor the refuge, knowing it was filling a desperately needed gap in this area of animal welfare provision. Pedigree cats are different and, in their way, more needy than non-pedigrees, so finding a way to meet their emotional needs is as important as meeting their physical needs. Because Poss Puss specialises in pedigrees, I was confident that Jan would know how to meet all of Rupert’s needs.
Since his arrival, Rupert has taken to the refuge like a duck to water and Jan has sent me regular updates and photographs of him in the company of his new family. He is evidently very contented and looks better than ever. I can’t thank Jan, and her helpers, enough. This has been the best possible outcome for Rupert and the best possible outcome for me. No-one likes to give up a pet in any circumstances but, if it had to be, I am only glad I discovered Jan and Poss Puss Rescue.

We contacted Jan at Posh Puss Rescue after Coco our lovely Burmese blue became a little difficult to manage once out daughter came along. As babies do, she spent morest of the day trying to cuddle/stroke Coco and ended up with Coco trying to play fight with her which was far from ideal. After much deliberation we decided that it was unfair to both Coco and Imogen and decided to seek a new home.
My main worry with trying to rehome Coco myself was that I could not homecheck or know much about Coco's prospective owners. After looking online I came across Jan's website and as I read through decided to give her a call to see if she would be able to help. I was instantly reassured and knew that this was the right thing to do. From the offset it was clear that Jan really was dedicated to caring for cats and rehoming them appropriately.
After a difficult goodbye to Coco, Jan clearly invested significant time helping Coco to settle and sent me daily emails which were very reassuring and as a family we loved hearing how she was getting on. Within a very short space of time Coco has been rehomed with a lovely family whom I am sure can give her the cuddles and attention she craves and adores.
I could not have asked for a smoother or more supportive rehoming process for our much loved cat and am very grateful to Jan for the way she cared for Coco and for keeping us updated at every step of the way.

I came across the Posh Puss website in my search for a pedigree cat and I was immediately hooked.
It is lovely - friendly, helpful, kind and knowledgeable - just like Jan herself I was about to find out. We had decided we wanted a pedigree cat and preferably a rescue one. There are so many sad stories about people having to give up their cats now-a-days and I was really impressed by the way Posh Puss helps people manage such a difficult decision with such kindness and care. I also liked the idea that Jan keeps in touch with everyone - the people who have had to give up their cats so that they know how they are and the ones taking them in so that you always have someone to ask for advice.
Seeing these amazing pictures of beautiful cats (and dogs) in sleeping piles everywhere is incredible too! How Jan manages to settle them all together so quickly is amazing.
After sharing a few emails with Jan I quickly realised what an inspiration she is. I have no idea where she gets her energy and retains her upbeat attitude from. I was lucky to be receiving one of her cats but I can imagine if I was ever unfortunate enough to need her help to rehome one she would be like finding a guardian angel in your hour of need! No problem seems to be too much for her to deal with when it comes to a cat in crisis.
We were quickly homechecked by a delightful lady who lives locally and after a couple of false starts and a long conversation, that I am sure Jan did not have time for but she would never admit it, we were matched with a sweet little Burmese cat called Coco. Jan has a way of matching you with a cat in her care - as she knows them all so well - that means when you get them you feel as if they have been with you for ever. Coco arrived a few days ago, healthy, clean and shiny and full of confidence. It was obvious she had been looked after and well cared for and she has taken us over as if she has always meant to be with us. I would recommend Posh Puss Rescue without hesitation.

Hi,
Well what a laidback chap Jack is.
Whined a couple times first 2 nights, reckon he just wanted to be sure he had not been left.
Very good when we meet other dogs and really perfect.
Thinks he owns the house loves to sit on our laps in the evening and is having lovely long walks.
He really is a gem.
I am sure I will not regret saying that but he is certainly just the dog for us.
Hope you manage to rehome all your other dogs.
All the best

My mum had some trauma that led to her needing to rehome her treasured and very much loved cats spice and misty. Having recently had a bereavement and due to her own illness she needed to move home so we looked on the internet and found poshpussrescue. We spoke to Jan and immediatly felt reassured about the rehoming process. Jan kept in touch with us every step of the way, updating us at every stage and letting us know how the cats were fitting in with the other cats she looks after. I cannot recommend Jan and her service highly enough,it's great when you have complete faith in someone knowing they love cats and are devoted to them. We put out trust in you Jan and you rewarded us with a excellent and caring service so a huge thank you Jan you've been fanstastic. P Smith

I was looking for a new feline friend who I could re-home when I came across Jan's Posh Puss site. I was immediately impressed by how friendly the site was and it was very clear that all the cats in Jan's care were really loved and cared for, so when I came across Merryn, I knew I had to get in contact.
Jan's email to me were very friendly and she gave me lots of information about Merryn and her personality. Jan takes time to find out about you and your circumstances so she is absolutely sure that you are right for the cat and able to provide a loving and caring forever home.
After several emails, a chat on the phone and a proper Home Check, I was thrilled to be told that I was going to be Merry's new Mum. And what a delight she is.
Merryn is a little darling - so loving and full of fun. It feels like she has been with me forever and I think we make the perfect couple!
Jan is an amazing person and the work she does is incredible. What is lovely is that she continues to care and be interested in Merryn and all the animals she finds new homes for and also keeps the previous owners up to date with their progress. I feel I have made a new friend in Jan and I can't think of a better place for someone take a pet who needs to be re-homed.
So a huge 'Thank You' Jan for everything and I wish you continued success with your wonderful work (and a bigger bed for you and all your mob!)
Lots of Love from Beverly and Merryn xxx

Having trawled through the internet in search of a special feline companion to join us I eventually came upon Jan's site. Seeing how all her cats, resident and rescue, live together decided me that this was where I wanted to re-home a cat from. All the cats looked so happy and contented. Having adopted Hemulen I certainly have no regrets. Even though she has taken over the house as her own and just allows our afghan hound, Shado, to live here as well. She is such an affectionate little cat and a joy to watch when she plays with her pipe cleaner spiders. Thank you Jan.

Hi Jan
This is just to say a huge thank you for all yourhelp and support in re homing Merryn and Hemulen my two Bengal Cross cats.
I had realised that re homing was the only option as they were attacking my Tabby and starting to fight each other – having previously been good friends. I was very upset and knew they wouldn’t be happy in a kennel situation while they looked for homes. But if I looked for homes by myself how would I ever be sure that they were happyand well looked after?
When I found Jan’s website I knew that it was just the answer to these two problems as the cats live with her in her house. And all prospective new homes are checked in person and asked to keep in touch with Jan so that the former owners need never worry about their cats welfare.
Despite my serious doubts that my two could happily live with so many cats Jan achieved this miracle on the first night of arrival and phoned me as soon as I got home to assure me that they were quite happy and making friends with her already. And nobody was fighting!
After this she sent me frequent emails and photos describing their antics at Posh Puss to reassure and console me.
On the first evening they were purring away on her lap and they were soon having the time of their lives – it sounded like a cats holiday camp!
Merryn was soon running up and down the ladder to play in the loft library with her new Bengal friends and Hemulen was scaling the chest of drawers to find a cosy spot to curl up in and add a bit of much needed Tabby colour to Jan’s black trousers!
Jan promised me that they would be treated like Princesses and they were! There was Coley for supper treats and Hemulen was soon sleeping in pride of place by Jan’s head at night!
Now Jan has found them each the most lovely sounding home where they can live a life of luxury with a devoted owner all to themselves.
Jan is continuing to forward updates on their progress and photos to show them happily settled in their new homes. She has been so understanding and brilliant at keeping in touch. I don’t know how she manages it! If you are worried about having to re home your cats please don’t hesitate to email Jan for some help and advice – I couldn’t have made a better decision on behalf of all my cats.
Thank you Jan!

Dear Jan and furry friends
This is a huge thank you for you dedication and compassion towards the cats you help.
In January 2010 we adopted a lovely boy called Sparky the Bengal.
Sparky had been shipped from pillar to post until he found Jan.
I fell instantly in love with Sparky as soon as I saw his picture on the website and emailed Jan straight away. After a home check, it took a couple of days to collect him...it was well worth the wait.
He has been living with us for 6 weeks now.
Sparky has settled in so well and it feels like we have had him forever.
He's noisy, playful and just an absolute joy. Sparky has truly now found his forever home.
Keep up the good work as its people like you we need more of in this world.

Dear Jan and furries
This is a big thank you for bringing the gorgeous Eric into our family. As you know we were all devastated on the sudden death of one of our beloved Birmans at Xmas. We really wanted to give a home to a rescue cat and after contacting you and seeing pictures of Eric we decided to go ahead with the adoption. Eric has fitted right into our household and everyone loves him including our other older cat who has found a new lease of life. Eric is beautiful, affectionate and fun to have around and has found his forever home with us.
Keep up the good work Jan.
You do a fantastic job and we will keep in touch with updates on `our` boy Eric.
Love from Bev Searle and the Birman-Searle boys.

Dear Jan Thank you ever so much for the help you have given me with my little cat Lulu. She has indeed gone to the right place, there is no way i could have given her what she needed and i feel bad that i didnt see the problem before but then i still would have had to rehome her for her own sake and im so happy that she found all the love and care she needed with you. What you have done is invaluable to me and i suppose to all the other people you have helped. I believe that your rehoming centre does fantastic work and i would strongly endorse your happy home for other people in need of help with their cats or looking to rehome a cat that has maybe fallen on hard times, just like us humans at the moment. The one thing that made me choose your rescue is your wonderful website in which you can see and be rest assured that all your animals are cherished and adored and will have the best you can give them. Many many thanks Jan and i look forward to seeing some pictures of Lulu soon.
Best wishes and Happy Christmas to you all (especially my little Lu xxxxx)

Hi Jan,
Hope you and all the cats are well.
I have attached a picture of Charlie enjoying the sun we had on Saturday. He is doing really well and loves to spend time in the garden. He brought me a present one night of a very big toad. I don't think he will do it again as he has found out that they leave a nasty taste in his mouth.
He sleeps on my bed every night and I expect spends most of the day napping their also. He chats alot and purrs and trills but I haven't heard him woof for some time now.He has moments still of walking around grumbling and complaining but he wouldn't be him if he didn't complain abit now and then.
He has started to eat more dry food now and has filled out alot. He likes to be brushed and will occasionally let me brush his belly but he's not too keen on that.
I think he is happy and we love having him live with us.
All the best
Jane Drew.

I turned to Jan at a difficult time in my life. I had to leave the country and go and live abroad for my work and could not find a solution for my 11 year old cat. I searched the web for cat rescue organisations and was struck by Jan's site. It was friendly, informal, with lots of photographs of happy, cosy looking cats, and the testimonials from people who had turned to Jan for help sounded very genuine. I got in touch with her, despite the fact that she was miles away from me. I am so glad I did. Jan turned out to be all those things people had written about her: friendly, supportive and above all, immensly caring, and not just towards my cat, but towards me as well!!
When I left my cat behind, I felt desperately sad, really gutted. But when I got home and checked my emails, I found that Jan had already sent me a progress report and two photographs of my little furry friend. She told me how he had spent his first night with her, what he had done, etc. And the progress reports continued for a few days, whilst I gradually got used to the separation and began to overcome the pain. I would recommend Jan to anyone in my situation and I'd like to say: don't worry, Jan's brilliant and her house is cats' heaven ". Linda

Hi Jan
I can see from the website that Daisy has settled in nicely (your photos actually reduced me to tears too see her so relaxed and enjoying the company of the other beasties). I really had no clue what to do with her as she was so obviously unhappy in our home and had to make the heartrending decision to try and rehome her for her sake.
Posh Puss Rescue made the wrench of leaving her so much more bearable after discussing her with you and then visiting your home where your animals live – and I mean live, not are kept! Your attitude and ethos are so comforting when something so traumatic is necessary. Your dedication is admirable. I can only say thank you and hopefully little Daisy will get a new home soon.

Dear Jan,
Thank you very much for taking in my two dogs, Ice and Tiga, in troubled times. I love them very much and found myself in an unexpected situations where I had to part with them.
With your support I learned that they would be well cared for and rehomed with special new families. You have been absolutely fantastic with emailing me regularly with updates on how the dogs are doing and it sounds like they are having an amazing time! Even though I haven't got the pleasure of caring for my dogs myself anymore I can take comfort in the fact that they are being well cared for and are extremely happy.
You have a great understanding of bull breeds and know they can easily be abused if placed in the wrong hands. I am so happy that Ice and Tiga have a bright future ahead of them.
Thank you again for your kind help and support.

Hi Jan,
What a true delight our new member of the family is.
Beanie is an intelligent and inquisitive girlie and she seems to have settled into her new family with ease. She is relaxed and loves her cuddles on the sofa or her quiet time alone in the washing basket.
I had a couple of puddles on my bed on the first day but I feel that was only to be expected when you consider she had a fair bit of upheaval in her short life. Either that os she was just leaving her mark announcing `I AM HERE`, whatever it was it was nothing bad and has not reoccurred.
She gets on well with my other staffy x, Murphy, and runs at him full pelt (when off lead and in the fields) and leaps over him. She and Oska can then air their lungs to their heart's content.
Beanie and Murph walk side by side on lead and she is keen to meet and greet other dogs. She is a great addition to our home and it already feels as if she has always been one of the gang.
Beanie loves playing with Oska who is six and is always ready to try and pinchi his ball off him. She has even been on the trampoline a few times!
On the whole Beanie is a -
loving, loyal, soppy, fun, boisterous, cute, mischevious, cuddly, bed hogging, attention seeking show off.
And My Do we Love her.
Thanks
Nancy and Oska

Hi Jan!
I want to say a very big thank you for providing such a wonderful home to my beloved Arthur Einstein and Demelza Fruitbat!! I broke my heart when MS meant that I had to part with them, but I know the are well, settled, loved and happy with you as theor new mum. It was the hardest thing on earth to have to say goodbye to them, but they couldn't be in a better place. and I am so grateful.
I hope I might be able to visit them one day.

Dear Janet
I saw my pictures on the web. Fascinating, it's wonderful what modern science can do. I'm having a great time here. Go outside most days but don't stay too long as I get colds and the birds won't let me catch then though I do try hard. Please remember me to all my friends in Porthleven especially that Bengal tom cat at the window. I'd have given him a run for his munchies. They're bringing me down to Cornwall tomorrow. Hope the weather is not as bad as forecast. If it is there will be more swept off the pier down your way.

I would like to thank you for the kindness and sensitivity you showed in helping me in rehoming Cookie, my seal point persian cat. As a qualified veterinary nurse I have spent much of my time in the past rescuing or rehoming (and keeping in some cases!) various needy pets that have come my way. Cookie was one such case and came to me as an un-neutered run down looking stray. God knows why because he's gorgeous. He soon found a permanent place in my heart and my home and stayed for six years. This was until recently when a change of circumstances meant that I now had to consider rehoming Cookie, now a slightly older boy of nine. This was not helped by the fact that he was such a chilled out and affectionate chap and as you can imagine was a decision that I did not take on lightly. As a fellow animal lover I wanted only the best for my cat and as Cookie has certain toiletting behaviours I wanted him to go somewhere where someone was experienced and would understand him. I am so pleased to say that this is exactly what I got when Cookie landed on his feet at Jan's place. .....It doesn't stop there! I have received various updates and progress reports on Cookie from Jan and this has been extremely reassuring for me. Despite the painstaking process of letting him go I now have no doubt that this was the best decision for COOKIE and I know he is being spoilt rotten. Cookie is such an amiable laid-back chap
and I am glad to know that he has blended in so well and made so many Posh Puss friends.
Many thanks Jan,
Cheryl xxx

Jasper, as you said, will settle promptly. Has met swans by the river, done his business and investigated everywhere thoroughly. Walks well on lead and responds favourably to chocalate biscuits (portions).
Has not bothered with my dogs at all and is currently having 40 winks on a bean bag.
For interest, we met a huge Betty Boops look-alike on the walk - full of muscle - dog of course. Jasper said `hello` in the normal way without any problems - so far quite relaxing.
Well done for saving another life and putting in good effort without reward.

This is just to say a heartfelt 'thank you' to Jan and the inmates at Posh Puss for all the love and care they gave to Casey during his short stay at Porthleven. With our immigration imminent, we were at a total loss as to what to do with Casey. But, having lived in his own outside quarters he had such a long, thick coat that we knew he would not adapt to the Spanish heat. He had given us so much during his life, and fathered so many beautiful kittens, but who would give him a home for his twilight years? Who would take a 15-year old, unneutered male cat - and one with only three legs. We thought there was only one solution, but avoided that final decision.
And then we heard of Posh Puss and it was like a lifeline. We rang Jan for advice and I can't express our happiness and relief when she said she would take him for the remainder of his life.
From the day he arrived Jan kept us informed about his settling in and progress. It was wonderful to hear that he was behaving like a gentleman and so was able to live in the house with the other cats. He was even sharing his bed with the seal-point siamese residents! and it must have been truly wonderful for him to have other feline companions after a fairly isolated life as a stud cat.
Sadly, his time with Jan was very short, although none of us knew he had any health problems. We had been away visiting friends for a few days and came back to the sad news. Our only regret is that we had not visited him before we went away, but we had felt it was better to make sure he was well settled.
In retrospect, fate had decreed that Casey's last weeks on this planet should be in a warm, comfortable home with lots of fuss and attention, and the company of many feline friends. Yes, we were very sad, but also grateful to Jan and the vet for making the right decision without allowing him to feel any pain.
Jan does a brilliant job, one which is well needed, and we hope that everyone who reads this will do a little of what they can to help her continue.

Hi Jan!
BlackJack is having a great time here, he loves the garden & is currently out there with Dewy, chasing sticks!!!
I took him for 2 walks before we got home last night, (& he met Efi briefly too enroute home!!) then a little wander at 3am before i went to bed! (He was really good in the car too, siting down in the passenger footwell!)
This morning i woke to find him fast asleep on the end of my bed! We had a 2 mile walk 1st thing, along the coast path, then at midday Dewy came over from his grandmas & took him for another walk around the village!!!
He really is a great dog & is fitting in here really well, infact hard to believe we only got him last night!!
Will keep you in touch with his progress, plus will take some photos in a weeks time so you can see how he is looking!!
Thanks again,
Simon & Family
P.S I may have a neighbour interested in getting a cat!?
I will give her your number to discuss the possibilities!

Hi Jan,
I just want to thank you for matching Annie up with me - you sure got it right. She is a darling.
I came down the third time now and as usual all the cats were snuggled up and content. I don't know how you do it. All your animals are so loved and cared for. I would not have a second thought about leaving one of mine with you if the time ever came and you know me - they are my babies.
Well, my other two cats Jasmin and Cleo are fine with Annie. She came on my bed last night and gave me lots of kisses.
Please tell Annie's firt mom she will be loved and spoiled and well looked after here and not to worry - I will get lots of piccies to you as soon as I can.
Once again THANK YOU for Annie. I just wish people would look at your site and realise how much time, energy and love you give all the animals there and maybe give you some financial help.
Annette.

We would both like to thank you for taking in Blue and Harry our British Shorthairs at such short notice. We loved our cats however with a baby and having moved house it all became too much and you were at hand straight away to take in our cats for re homing. You have kept us updated through out the re homing process and it sounds like both cats are doing well. Keep doing what you are doing as all those posh pussies need you.
All our best wishes Jane, Mark and Harrison :-)

Jan,
Thank you so much for making it possible for us to care for Phoebe. I fell in love with British Blues a couple of months ago after "meeting" one. They are gentle, laid back and very noble and I went on the search for one! and that's how I came upon Jan's site. I was so impressed with the care and love she has for the animals and then fate struck and Phoebe turned up needing a home. She has been with us for two days and it's as if she had always been here. She is gorgeous and already feels secure and we love her to bits. Cleo our other lovely cat hisses and growls but they are inching nearer and I predict in a week or so they will be curled up together. Thank you Jan and for all the work you do for animals who otherwise would have such sad lives. Best wishes Ellie and Andrew Phoebe and Cleo. xxx

Just prior to Christmas I homed two white persian cats from Janet who had rescued them and virtually brought them back to life after a very harrowing experience. They are now in a beautiful condition, and although 16 years old, should have a few more happy years in luxury.
Janet is a very dedicated and caring person and I would thoroughly recommend any pets acquired from her since whilst with her she does her utmost to ensure that they are in the best condition possible before being rehomed.

Hi Jan
Just wanted to say a very big thank you for introducing us to Smokey the British Blue. She is a fabulous cat and although she has only been here four days her loving personality is already showing. Our other two moggies have accepted her easily into our home (I think they are secretly relieved its not another human baby!), and she has already found the best viewing point to watch the bird feeders. We hope very much to be able to visit you when we are down in June, and have passed your site on to everyone we know. You do a fantastic job, and deserve all the recognition you are credited with.
Take care

just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone at Posh Pooch Rescue for taking smiling Minnie on from the pound in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. And of course for finding her a fabulous home so quickly, she really is a special special girl. Our bullie forum tries to raise much needed funds to enable pound dogs to go into emergency kennelling until a rescue space can be found and we've helped a fair few to date. We also help with vet costs where we can. We helped Minnie in a different way by paying for her transport from Wisbech to Solihull, which was the first part of her journey to a new life. To see her looking adoringly at your son's face made it all worthwhile.
Keep up the fantastic work, and we can't wait to hear more about Troy when he gets to you. He is another boy we have helped with and he so deserves the chance of a new life.
Take care all at PPR, humans and canine. (You've got some beautiful dogs.)

Thanks for your hospitality and I look forward to seeing you all again soon,

Just popped on again Jan to have another look at Troy on the sofa....it's so lovely to see him like that. I spent ages looking at the picture of his face, when he was at the pound, he had a worried, far away longing look in his eyes, dreaming of somewhere where he would be loved and cared for.
Absolutely fantastic to know that his dreams have come true thanks to PPR.
Great news re Jasper too, he looks settled and very happy :)))))
Best of luck with Freckles.
Take care

I've been on the website.... it's really good, and I hope loads of people can see from your great wording just how fulfilling it can be to rehome a disfigured cat. Ash and Tara are great examples of what can be achieved with a little hard work, and a lot of love. The love is free so there isn't much else to do after that, except make little adjustments for them.. Which anyone could make. I really hope it encouraged some kitty lovers to get in touch with you and take one (or2!) on

Hi Jan
It's amazing to see how animals respond to love and care - you are one amazing lady.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting your site and would love to help in any way I can.

Dear Jan,
Just a few lines to tell you how pleased and happy I am to have Harvey as my "doggy" friend and companion. He's lovely!!!
He's so good in my home, he's relaxed and very happy. He loves to go "walkies" two-three times a day, enjoys his breakfast and dinner. He spends a lot of time "relaxing" in the bay window where he can see all that goes on. He's quite a celebrity now, people look and point at "the dog in the window", and in the evening relaxing in his own armchair.
We have only "been together" for five weeks! It seems as tho¬ I have had him forever! We "bonded" from the start, and as each day passes the bond gets stronger and stronger! I couldn't have wished for a better and more loving "doggy" companion!.
I enclose a couple of photos of Harvey relaxing in his favourite place - the bay window!
It is a wonderful thing you do out of the kindness of your heart for dogs, cats etc that need fostering whilst awaiting a new home, long may you continue!
Take care and see you around Porthleven,
Mary

Ebony & Olivia have lived with my wife and I since kittens and have been wonderful companions.
However, when our first baby was born Ebony & Olivia became less keen on being in the house, especially near the baby.
When our second child was born Ebony & Olivia finally had enough and refused to come into the house if the children were there. This unfortunately meant Ebony & Olivia moving into a shed in the garden - not great for long haired persians.
My wife and I came to the incredibly hard descision of rehoming our now 8-year old cats.
As for most people we considered all the options, but after speaking with Jan, I knew that PoshPuss was the only way.
Jan responded to my message quickly and offered only sympathy and support. Jan arranged her home for Ebony & Olivia as soon as was possible and communicated with me constantly.
Since Ebony & Olivia have left Jan has kept me informed of their progress and continues to do so.
Jan made what was one of our hardest descisions as easy as it could be and has shown compassion and sympathy throughout.
All my thanks,
Mike.

Dear Pet Owners,
Big Purr - my name is Tiger or Tigger - my human owner calls me Piggy as I love my food and as I am terribly vocal crying for food all the time. I landed on my paws when on the day I was rehomed.. My home was with Janet Jewell of Posh Puss Res`cue home but the nice lady Janet let me go to Dawson Close in Plymouth.
My days consist of eating (favourite pastime), sleeping (I snore for England), watching birds etc out of the lounge window, being loved etc.
Better now tell you about myself: here goes:
I am a medium size 6 year old male (have had the operation) tabby. Oh, I am an indoor cat and although I say it myself I am in excellent condition (good health) on, and am very affectionate - my purr box is constantly on plus I am a lap cat. My human owner (now) had a lovely four year female persian that is cream in colour and named `Honey`. Unfortunately because of my owner's health she couldn't groom her as much as she needed so she let Janet have her as she needed to go to a loving home. So that's how I came to be here. Sorry, but although I have been in photos they haven't been developed yet but I will send some soon.
All Take Care, TIGER

I am chuffed to pieces at being able to rehome Ash and Tara. The fourteen hour round trip Cornwall from Lancashire was well worth it! It was lovely to meet all the residents at Posh Puss, and I only wish I could have brought them all home with me yesterday! They are both well and settling in nicely. I promise to keep you updated on their progress as I know you will miss them dearly.
Many thanks for the brew and lunch and for all the follow up information that I will need to ensuire that both Ash and Tara's health is maintained.
Many thanks Jan, and God bless you for all the hard work you do and for all the love you put into it.xxx

Hi Jan,
What a fighter my darling she is. She obviously enjoys the life she is living and will not give up without a fight. I do miss that wonderful purr she has and I must get a kitten as soon as I get back. It has to be called Suki2! All my thoughts are with her and I thank you from the bottom of my heart the wonderful work you are doing.
I know life does not go on forever and that at some point we have to let go. But while she is still around, not in any pain and among all her friends, that is a bonus. Putting her to sleep would seem such an ungracious way to go, so impersonal, unfriendly. Just let her see out her days as only she knows how to and when the time comes I believe she will just go to sleep, contented that she has had a wonderful life.
My God bless you Jan, what a wonderful friend you have been and still are.

C/O JAN JEWELL and all the POSH PUSSIES
We are so glad you are well and happy in Cat Heaven. If we didn't love our mum, we would be jealous. We miss you A LOT but we can see you are settled and loved.
Here is some advice.
ARTHUR: Doors are for walking through, nor for Tonks to sleep on, and people's sshoulders mustn't be bpimced on without asking permission.
DEMI: When Jan is taking notice of Other People mind your language!! You are not the only Siamese in the world.
The postmans' van sends its regards, and the pigeon that shouts down the chimney says Hi!
...... and mum says a big `thank you` to JAN for coming up trumps at this difficult time.
HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE AT POSH PUSS - and maybe we'll see you again one day.
With lots of love from your posh brothers and sisters: Tigger Robin, Lady Elspeth of the Dales, Pollyanna-Japhia and Felicity Fruitbat-too!! and of course, our mum xxxx
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hello Folks,
Please can I take a few minutes of your time to tell you what a worthwhile job Jan/Posh Puss Rescue does.
Recently I had a very sad phone call from a lady who owend a persian cat (Honeybun) whose ill health meant she found it hard to cope with Honey's general needs and grooming was very hard for her to do.
I contacted Jan and she was very kind and put a plan straight away into action for Honey to be removed from the lady's house because she lived a long way from Jan. Without any fuss, in fact within days, transport had been sorted out and Honey was well on her way to a new life.
When Honey arrived at Jan's she was bathed and pampered and felt right at home straight away - just look at her lovely face on Jan's webstie - spoilt rotten.
As the lady was without a cat Jan very kindly offered her Tiger, a lovely shorthaired tabby cat to adopt which she did and the two are now soul mates!.
So a big thank you to Jan for all her hard work and planning that turned a sad situation into a happy one - or should I say a purr fect one as one cat is happily homed and Honey, with Jan's
help can look forward to a happy life with an owner that will be able to love her and cope with her grooming too.!
A big thank you Jan.
Please if you know of a cat that needs help please ring Jan/Posh Puss Rescue up. She is so helpful and makes an unhappy situation into a good one. Also she is kind enough to keep you informed of the progress of the cats too and if you still have worries just look at the happy faces of her cats!
Thanks Jan,
Maria

Can I express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the fantastic commitment and devotion that Jan Jewell has shown after I contacted her regarding my two precious Siamese girls and my stressful situation. I am emigrating at the end of the year and was unable to take them with me. They are both fifteen years of age and had spent the whole of their lives together.
Having seen the Posh Puss Rescue website I contacted Jan and over the last couple of months leading up to the hand over she has been such a support to me. The two girls are now settled in with her and she has guided me through such a stressful period, words just cannot describe her devotion. She is certainly a 'Jewell' and the organisation deserves as much support as can be given. God Bless you Jan and I thank you from the bottom of my heart as I know my two precious daarlings will be loved and cared for until the end of their lives.

I would like to thank Jan for her fantastic and ongoing support in taking in my beloved Devon Rexes, Rascal and Shadow. They originally
came from a rescue shelter and had a very unhappy start in life, so I was devastated when I realised that I was going to have to give then up
due to ill health (they had triggered off my asthma.) Having seen the website which looked to ideally reflect my circumstances I got in touch
with Jan who was an absolute rock, immediately offering to take and keep the boys for life to save them from further upheaval. She also provided
lots of emotional support and reassurance in advance of taking the boys.
Rascal and Shadow are now entirely happy and relaxed in their new home, thanks to the love and attention that Jan lavishes on them. Jan
provides regular updates and photos which allows me to keep in touch. I have also been to visit and was delighted to see how well they have settled in and interact with the other cats. The care that Jan
provides to all her animals is evident from how happy and content they are.
I don't know how I would have coped without Jan through this difficult time and the work she does for both cats (and dogs and rabbits ...) and
their owners is absolutely tremendous. I know that this is a full time occupation/life for Jan and am extremely grateful for all she does.
Thanks Jan for all your support ,
Helen xx

Well, where do I start? Janet is a fantastic person, with such a big heart & always there to help in any way she can.
I contacted her to try to find a home for Mickey/Tinks/Ginge/Gulliver! He had so many names! He was not a Posh Puss, but had such an incredible character & determination to beat the odds, that Janet was on his case straight away. Janet organised transport for his trip to Cornwall. He had a huge road trip & was a perfect travel companion. This cat touched the hearts of so many people & thanks to Janet's hard work & dedication, he was found a perfect home in record time.
I'm so grateful for everything you did for this little man Janet. I really can't thank you enough. Your work is vital in helping so many animals, who through no fault of their own, end up in dire circumstances.
Thank you once again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dear Jan,
I lost Rosie my beloved companion of 18 years in December and contacted you when I saw Kernow on your website. She has such a kind face and I knew I could give her a good home. Within a couple of days you had arranged to deliver her to me and Kernow and I are totally devoted to each other. You obviously took great care of her when she was in your charge and I would like to thank you for allowing me the privilege of giving Kernow a forever home. Photos will follow.
Best wishes for the all the good work you do. Carol ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Jan,
Thank you for all your help in finding new homes for the two Birmans Misty and Tammy. I was so afraid that they would be put down after their owners death and in any case the lady's mother is 92 and not capable of looking after four cats. The rest of the family, Barney and Jasmine are still there but I think that it will not be long before they will need a new home as well and I shall certainly contact you if this happens.

Many thanks to Jan and Posh Puss Rescue from KittyKat, Possum and their devoted carer (me) for bringing us all together. KittyKat has quickly settled in and is a delight to be with. Thank you Jan for caring for her and making it such a pleasant experience to adopt her. Thanks also to the wonderful couple who brought her most of the way to her new "forever" home. Good fortune in the New Year to Posh Puss Rescue and its good work. Merry Christmas to all. May all the little purry furries find loving permanent homes.

Jan's desire to minimise animal suffering - anywhere - is utterly commendable. It is a pleasure "most of the time" to be associated with this caring person.
'Jewells' - the Bengal with 'sore ass' syndrome tests this on various occasions by leaving his 'doings' where they are least expected.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Having been owned by five Siamese and a Tonkanese over the past 30 years, we got two adorable Siamese kittens from our favourite breeder. Jasper and Lucy were all we hoped for until Jasper started getting into a few scrapes with the other local Tomcats. He started spraying to defend his territory, and our house began to smell pretty bad. We tried many things to discourage him, but he continued spraying everything.
After explaining all to Jan at Posh Puss Rescue, she agreed to take him on and try to re-home him. We were very upset to see him go, but it has been the right thing to do. We still have our Lucy, who misses her big brother, but Jasper is now very happy, and has not sprayed once in his new environment. Jan has kept us informed of his progress and sent us pictures of him via e-mail. I think she has fallen for him really, and I know that he will not go to a home unless she is absolutely certain he will be loved and cared for as he has been for all of his two year life.
I cannot thank Jan enough at Posh Puss Rescue for giving him a wonderful new life where he loves all his new friends and is a very contented cat. We shall be visitng him soon, now that we don't feel quite so upset about him leaving. We will maintain our contact with Jasper, Jan and Posh Puss Rescue.
Jan is a very special person, with so much love for animals. Thanks again Jan from the bottom of our hearts.
Jan must need all the help she can get from donations to help with her with the wonderful work she is doing. So let all of us, those who are just website visitors, and those who have benefitted from either having a cat re-homed or indeed in receiving a wonderful Posh Puss friend for life, make another small contribution to the cost.

Had two english bull terriers, had to get one rehomed asap or he would have had to have gone to the vets for the big injection. Found Jan's number on the website. Contacted her and explained the situation, and Jan took George on straight away. Dont know what we would of done without her help. Jan is trying to find a loving home for George, but in the meantime she gives him all the care and love he needs. She is truly a trusted person dedicated to the welfare and care of all her animals. Absolute geniue person Thankyou Jan for everything you have done and still continuing doing. keep it up love Carolyn and Andy x

I contacted Jan on behalf of my 87 year old mother who was finding it increasingly difficult to care for her much loved Birman, Harvey.
Two days later Harvey was delivered to Posh Puss Rescue and in no time was settling in with Jan and her feline friends.
My mother was very concerned that Harvey would miss his cuddles. No need to have worried, he was soon purring on Jan's lap while being groomed, and sleeping on her bed!
From the moment he arrived at Posh Puss Jan has kept us fully informed, via email and phone, of Harvey's progress with her. This has been so reassuring for my mother who was heartbroken to give him up. She misses him terribly but knows she has done the right thing for Harvey's sake.
Jan is now hard at work trying to find Harvey a lovely new home and continues to update us regularly about this. Meanwhile Harvey is thoroughly enjoying
being an official "Posh Puss" and we know he is being loved and cared foR
Jan, you do the most fantastic job, not only looking after the needs of the animals but of their ex owners too! You have made a very sad situation much more bearable by being so good at keeping in contact. Thank you so much for helping us. We know you will find Harvey a good home.
Keep up the good work, you are an amazing person

Hi Jan,
A big ‘thank you’ for taking our two aging cats Daisy (Devon Rex) and Sophie (Siamese) and miraculously finding a new friendly home for them within 24 hours! This exceeded our expectations by miles and we can only thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
As you know we are emigrating to Spain very shortly and having sold our house here in Bedfordshire, decided that the two girls were too old to take with us. We did not have any obvious candidates to take them on and give them a home, so we started ‘surfing’ for inspiration. Once we located your unique website we felt immediately that you might hold the answer to our dilemma - that was until we saw you were located in Cornwall! Howeer, having spoken to you about the girls, and hearing more about your network of supporters and helpers, you assured me that transportation of cats to and from Cornwall was a surmountable hurdle. Within a day of our initial call, you let me know that two other cats were being transported to you from London and that our girls could be included in that journey - for that we thank Helen and Kevin.
We would like to thank you for keeping in touch with us via emails and pictures of the progress of our two girls in their new home, and also our thanks to Nannette for taking them into her family. We have nothing but praise for the work you do and the way in which you do it, and will always be grateful to you for the help you have given us. We wish you good luck for the future, and thank you for caring so much and dedicating yourself to helping and homing animals.
Best wishes,
Jenny & Wayne

Hi Jan!
Just wanted to say thank you so much for going out of your way to make it possible for Jade to be with me! When I realized that you were in Cornwall and I was in Glasgow I thought there wouldn't be much of a chance that we could work something out, but having decided my home was right for Jade you sorted things out and made it possible. It is obvious that you care about all your charges a great deal, and the amazing way you seem to match cats up perfectly with their new homes shows it. Jade and I are getting along perfectly - I could not ask for a sweeter cat. She is beautiful and affectionate, and you can rest assured that she will be well looked after here. I will send some photos along when I've got them - I want to make sure they're super as I think I've given you pretty high expectations on that front!
Thanks again Jan.

We collected Chester on Sunday 16th December 2007. Although we only had to wait a week, it seemed alot longer.
As promised we met Jan at 2.00pm and were introduced to Chester. We were delighted with him, even though he seemed a litted timid, he came to us straight away and was very effectionate.
Jan has done a wonderful job of looking after him and he was looking very beautiful, due to Jan's efforts
It was a long drive home, but Chester has settled in well and loves being outdoors. We hope to visit Jan in the near future.
Thank you very much Jan for Chester and thank you for all your efforts looking after him.
Best wishes

Just thought I would up-date you on KittyKat, now called Kito! She
wasn't answering to her long name and shortly after she came, new
neighbour arrived with a Kitty.
Kito is Swahili for precious, which seems quite appropriate considering her breed's origins. In fact there are four new cats in the end of the Close now, and Possum was quite put out. You'd think being the only male, he'd be welcome, but not a chance, all the ladies boss him around. Not that this affects Kito, who (despite a few tries, with and without a harness, with and without me) has firmly decided that a very quick trip into the back garden is all she wants - which is fine with me.
Kito eats well, and loves exploring or playing or being cuddled on a lap. My son-in-law was able to cope with her presence without allergic
symptoms (after he'd taken his pills), and my future daughter in law was actually able to play with her! Joy!
Possum and Kito are never, I think, going to be really close, but they happily sleep on the same bed (mine). Their attitude to each other seems to me like that of a young brother and his sister. They play nicely, they have mock fights (neither is hurt), they ignore each other, they are jealous of each other (especially over food), they sit side by side on the window ledges and watch the world go by together.
Thank you again for letting me become Kito's carer. She is all I hoped for and more!

Well Ann and myself were the lucky couple to take in Suki hope her previous owner does not mind that we have dropped the E from her name.
We already had Twiglett, an Oriental Short Hair, and late last year it was time to say goodbye to his lifetime companion Tootsie.
We originally thought that Twiglett would be better on his own due to him being 10 years old. However months went by and he was still crying for his mate so we made contact with 10 rooming sites by email and we only had 3 replies – one of them being Posh Puss.
Well since our contact with Posh Puss, especially Jan, we feel we have made a new friend for life as well as being able to bring dear little Suki into our home.
Although it was clear that she dearly missed her previous owner Suki has now settled in with us very well and enjoys the company of Twiglet. Boy has this little lady got a character and attitude I thing she is due to become the boss of the house.
Jan is fantastic she has been in touch continually since our first contact and has helped us through the early day of Suki being with us.

I would like to say a big thankyou to Jan for offering to take Annie and being very patient with us. It took us a while to have Annie placed with her due to other commiments and also the extreme heartache it caused to let her go.
Jan very kindly came today to take Annie. We have had a phone call and a few email already letting us know how she has being doing.
This was a very hard decision on our part but we know Annie will be well looked after and happy.
She seems to have settled very well already by all accounts.

I contacted Jan about Harvey my English Bull terrier who I was struggling to cope with. Despite giving him all the love and cuddles I could ever give him and being absolutley and totally in love with him he was really unhappy as I work allday and he was left on his own in the house..I decided that the best thing to do for Harvey would be to rehome Harvey as it was unfair on him being left allday on his own and he needed more than I could give him.
This has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do and Jan has been an absolute rock through out the whole of this process from first contact to dropping Harvey off, and I don't think I could have done this with out her. She has given me reassurance, support and understanding more than anyone could have done. She has made sure that all my questions were and still are answered. She has emailed me everyday and telephoned to let me know what Harvey is up to and how he is getting on with the rest of the gang and has also sent me lots of pictures of him on his walks in the woods & with the other dogs. I can not put in to words how fantastic a job she is doing and that I know Harvey is in great hands and will be rehomed to the right family who can provide for his needs. Jan has helped make what has been an emotional and difficult time alot easier to bear, by her unique way working.
I can only say "Thankyou" to Jan for all of this and for being there for me despite everything else that has been going on in her life. There are not many people you can say that are true angels but I believe Jan is one
