ABOUT BULLY BEFRIENDERS

Three years ago Jan began Posh Puss Rescue in order to help pedigree cats in crisis situations. She has always taken on rescue dogs on a personal basis and has a great love of bull breeds keeping her own EBTs and English crosses. Initally she started to help with English Bull Terriers by trying to move them away from areas that were renowned for the evil activity of dog fighting. More recently, she has helped out primarily with taking in, assessing and rehoming staffordshire bull terriers from Death Row situations in the pounds. The dog rescue once somewhat inappropriately named as `Posh Pooch` - a sister site to `Posh Puss` has now been renamed `Bully Befrienders`.
Jan is hoping that the positive feedback from her rehomers about their staffies will encourage others to take on what can be a loyal and loving companion animal and help dispel the largely undeserved stereotype that bullies have been awarded. Similarly, it is important to make people realise that a dog from the pound is not always the potential wolf in the house but is more often an innocent victim who has fallen prey to someone's boredom, lack of compassion or irresponsiblity.
The rescue can only take a small number of dogs at a time. Dogs are given plenty of love, walks and stimulation and kept in a homely environment. Rehoming is to responsible forever homes only on a contractual basis. Donations for the dogs are not excessive and only aim to cover costs of neutering, innoculations and transportation. Jan is happy to network with fellow rescuers, pound liasion and anyone who helps promote the bully cause. If you would like to rehome a dog from Bully Befrienders please email Jan on jan@poshpussrescue.org. A new dog specific website will soon be available but in the meantime all news of BullyBefrienders will be on this website.
